With my free time, I'd like to give myself something to do: lo and behold, KARBALA WORLD!

I'm somewhat skeptical of this return/revitalisation of the 'old web' thing.
Am I falling for nostalgia-bait/retromania? Is this purely an aesthetic exercise, where many of these indie sites look like uninspired reimaginings of a Windows XP desktop or some MySpace copy? I'd hope not.

I experienced the dying art of HTML/CSS as a hobby for the masses through Tumblr theme-makers (which was largely a copy-and-paste operation riddled with broken code). In university, I attempted a basic web development course which I ended up completing remotely during the first COVID lockdown. It was an incredibly steep learning curve, and I only scraped past with a C (55%). I vowed never to try code again. But seeing cool people make these types of websites (servideo; human finny; roy blair; american road in new jersey; orion carloto) makes me want to try again! Why not!

This website is self-indulgent all the way. It might not be unique, or even interesting to anyone else, but it is almost definitely fun for its creator!
